Rachel Kylian: Instagram remains the most beneficial app for influencers

I think Instagram remains the most beneficial app for influencers of all types. TikTok is new and many don't know to use it yet. The top TikTok influencers are mostly artists (actress, singer, comedian, dancer). On Instragram anyone can be an influencer not necessarily an artist. Also everybody is on Instagram on a daily basis. For TikTok you have to be a little more creative and it feels like Instagram is easier to use, therefore a better platform for online influencers to reach more fans and clients.TikTok is very popular right now, since everyone was quarantined but soon as life restarts I expect online influencers to return their focus on Instagram.I am not on TikTok but I have seen many videos it's a great new app.

Saffron Sheriff: with the sun coming out, a dramatic shift from Instagram to Youtube and TikTok

Best social media app for summer

I've predominantly been using Instagram a lot recently, however, I've found that with the sun coming out, I want to spend more time enjoying the outside world and less time posing for photos. As a result, I've noticed a dramatic shift from Instagram to Youtube and TikTok. I feel like it's allowed me to be more authentic in how I spend my days rather than spending time indoors crafting and editing photographs at a computer screen.

TikTok vs Instagram

I personally believe that Instagram is the dog that's had it's day. What once started off as the underdog of the social media world, Instagram quickly became too monetised and too corporate. With the rise of influencer marketing, a lack of transparency and increased advertisements on every scroll, it's clear to see why thousands are flocking to newly created tiktok. TikTok is far more authentic, it has the vibe of Youtube from the early 2000's, rookie filming, funny story lines and most of all, very little advertising.

Kate Diaz: when it comes to views, monetization, and economy, TikTok is still far behind Instagram

TikTok or Instagram? The answer to this will depend on a few factors. In terms of demographics, TikTok caters to a younger audience than Instagram, with more than 60% in their 20s or below. So basically, this app if leaning towards more on Generation Z.

On the other hand, IG's audience is a bit older. Think Gen Y or Millenials, with the majority of its users range from 18 to 29 years old. And while there's a gender balance in Tik Tok's users, IG has more female users.

When we talk about revenue models, both social media platforms are free to use. TikTok has no ads, which is why it attracted millions of users. Nevertheless, you can make in-app purchases like digital gifts an emojis.

Meanwhile, Instagram's revenue is based on ads. This means that you can buy ads that will run on feeds an even on Facebook. Likewise, you can target the audience of your ads based on location, interests, an age.

In terms of content, Tik ok is heavily video-based while Instagram provides you with several options, like IGTV and IG Stories aside from regular posts.

TikTok is a good way to get cut-price deals on influencer marketing while reaching millions of users. However, its creators are still in the process of figuring out the true worth of influencers on the platform.

And there is no doubt that when it comes to views, monetization, and less controlled economy, TikTok is still far behind Instagram.

Wesley Elder: The Jump pushes you to engage in communities around interests

We’ve chosen The Jump, a newer platform, for our social media activities. It’s pretty interesting because they push you to engage in communities around interests, rather than focusing on your main feed. And while they have a main feed, if it gets too toxic or overwhelming, you can filter out keywords or just turn the feed off entirely. We’re using it for a sports league and think we will use it for other group focused activities! I will even say I took a break from Facebook and Instagram, but kept The Jump for now because it’s groups I want to be a part of and just turned off the main feed. Plus there’s no ads, which is a nice bonus.

TheRave: Tiktok may be growing, but Instagram is still the king

Best social media app for summer

I constantly have to stay ahead of the curb in order to ensure that my music is heard by as many people as possible. With my hand in a few pots, I can confidently say that I feel TikTok will be the social media app not only for the summer, but beyond! Instagram is becoming Facebook, and Facebook is becoming Myspace due to how regulated and devoid of new experiences it is. From what I understand, TikTok is aware of the value their platform offers marketers and the cost to market with them reflect that.

Ultimately, the benefit of TikTok is that it has an incredible organic reach at the moment, and you don't have to pay to boost your post in order for it to reach your own followers. This effectively makes it a TRUE social media platform. I really started focusing on showing my more guitar-nerd self on TikTok and have reached 1k followers in a month's time. That's pretty unheard of nowadays. I'm hoping that by slowly building my credibility with my audience on Tiktok, I can eventually have them eventually listen to my music and perhaps support it in more meaningful ways.

Instagram still has a place though, as they are the most platform people go to find you and see if you are legitimate. It has become such a staple of our lives that abandoning it would be leaving a house that still is in prime shape, on a nice plot of land no less. Tiktok may be growing, but Instagram is still the king.

Shiv Gupta: Instagram App Is More Important Than TikTok App for Influencer Marketing

Instagram is the most recommended software that every marketer is considered to be the leading app in influencer marketing, whereas TikTok is a rising platform for influencers. One of the main differences between TikTok and Instagram is the type of posts that feature. TikTok is far more heavily video-based. Although Instagram does allow videos and IGTV, the platform is better suited to longer videos and allows users to upload videos that are longer than one minute in length.
