WiFi check

Before doing anything with your phone, make sure that the WiFi you are trying to use is effectively working, by connection another device such as a computer, tablet, or another smartphone, to that same WiFi using the same identifier.

It that doesn’t work, then the issue is with the connection and not with your phone – try restarting the Internet router for example, or contact your Internet service provider if you cannot make it work. The best way to restart your modem, is to disconnect the power plug, wait about a minute to make sure that all residual power is gone, plug it back and turn it on.

Reset WiFi connection

In the Settings > WiFi settings, select the WiFi network to which you want to connect, and click forget for your phone to remove the connection.

It might be good at this point to restart your phone, just to make sure that there are not other issue.

Now, go back to the settings, and connect again to the network, by eventually adding the password if necessary.

Software updates

There is a possibility that a software update is necessary for your phone to work. Make sure that the phone is up to date, by going to Settings > About Phone > Software updates.

Here, click on check update, and apply any pending update – of course, without an Internet connection, it will not be possible to check online.

Always had a smartphone.... since the first one, the OpenMoko, even before iPhone were a thing.
