Cannot get mail on Apple iPhone 7 or receive email

Problem description

Possible reason

Have you changed your e-mail password recently? Did you apply a recent software update?

Most of the times, the easiest fix would be to remove and add again the account

Solution

Before all, it is important to make sure that the account and password you are trying to use are correct. Try to connect on the web portal of you web-mail, and make sure you have to right password. Otherwise, reset it first before proceeding with the next steps.

Reset WiFi password

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. No data will be deleted on your Apple iPhone 7, but this operation will allow to reset all WiFi passwords.

After the Apple iPhone 7 has restarted, check again the Settings and double check that cellular data is properly turned on.

Test again the email connection, to the email account. If that didn’t fix it, see the other possible solutions.

Reset account

Find the email account with which you are experiencing email problems, and tap on delete account.

The email account will be removed from the Apple iPhone 7, and everything will remain stored on the remote server, no information will be lost.

After the email account has been removed from the phone, go to Setting > Accounts & Passwords > Add account > Add Mail account.

Now, you can add again the account. Selection which kind of account it is, for example Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or another one. Enter the correct email address and the associated password to add the email account back in the phone.

The email account back in the phone, it should now be working again!
