TIK TOK is a Business Goldmine if You Know How to Work It

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, you’re well aware of the surge of TIK TOK attention. But you might not know that it can also be your business’ best kept secret if you know how to make it work FOR you.

What is TikTok?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, you’re well aware of the surge of TIK TOK attention. But you might not know that it can also be your business’ best kept secret if you know how to make it work FOR you.

For me, TIK TOK has been a creative outlet that has increased my business— read that again. It will be an important part of your success with it. I have been able to leverage TIK TOK into an attention grabbing, business moving, livewire tool.

I grew to 7,000 followers and 500,000+ views in the span of 28 days (directly affecting my business’ bottom line) with the information I am about to share. How would that many eyes on your organic content (and products) improve your profit margin?

How to use TikTok for business?

To become successful using TIK TOK for your business, the first thing I’ve found is that you need to know who you’re speaking to on the platform. Who is your ideal client or consumer? Before you even start making the videos, figure out who the person is that you are speaking to.

For me, I knew that the people who were going to automatically follow me were going to be moms, single moms, and women who are trying to improve their lives and become independent. I know what this group is watching, what they’re listening to, and what the thoughts are going through their heads.

So, when I’m creating my content, I think about the things they will enjoy and what will inspire them.

Get to know your audience

Target audience is a term used in marketing or advertising to refer to a group of people who are united by common characteristics, or united for some purpose or task.

You can find out your target audience of the site using Google Analytics data analysis. Metrics in which you can find out where the clients of the resource live, what their gender and age are, their interests, what languages they speak, what devices they use, etc., and make a portrait of the client. That is, the general image of the buyer, which includes such characteristics that can tell almost everything about him.

The next thing I do is look at who my audience is following. This is great to figure out the hashtags that these groups are using and implement them in my content.

TIK TOK is a little different in that they don’t help to rank you necessarily, but instead help people find things they are interested in. So, if my followers are trending towards a specific hashtag, that’s a hashtag I need to consider to highlight my content.

The TIK TOK algorithms kick in and it starts to learn about you, who you are, and who you may be interested in.

Use a pro account to succeed...

The third thing I recommend you do is switch from a personal account to a pro account so you can start to look at analytics. Once you have access to your analytics, you want to start posting 2-3 times a day to start getting information and data on what your posts are doing.

Do this without the expectation of blowing up or going viral. When you first start, you just want to focus on getting your message out there and giving out valuable content that speaks to your ideal person. As you do this, you can start to watch your analytics and see what’s working and what isn’t. You’ll get an idea of what time of day is the best for you to post, who’s watching, etc. This information will vary for everyone, but again you want to think about what your ideal audience may be doing.

For me, if I’m talking to single moms, they’re typically going to be on in the early morning when they’re drinking their coffee or late at night after they put the kids to bed. Checking your analytics gives insight into who your audience is and what they’re habits are.

... and be real!

Next, it’s vital on TIK TOK (and honestly all social platforms) to not be afraid to be relatable and real. My most viral video is one of me washing my face and saying, “Did you guys know that if you put moisturizer on a dry face it locks in the dryness and if you put it on a moist face it locks in the moisture?”

It was a tidbit that I didn’t know and was completely shocked to find out, so I shared it with them like I would a girlfriend. Now imagine if I owned a skincare company? It’s important to always be relating to your audience in that way.

It builds a level of intimacy and vulnerability, and it allows people to enter into your life and your business.

Interact with other accounts

Finally, after posting any content, spend at least 30 minutes liking and responding to comments people make. Engaging with your audience in a truly authentic way is the number one method for cultivating a group of loyal followers.

TikTok can work for your business!

TIK TOK is a fun, energy-filled platform right now. So if you run an online business—or honestly ANY business—get out there, post your authentic self, and show up for your ideal audience.

The world is looking for businesses, entrepreneurs, and influential figures they can relate to, and right now the world is on TIK TOK. So, get your business out there and start having some fun.
